In real estate, no two days are the same, and REALTORS® need to be ready for anything. That’s why experience and seasoning are so important, and an interesting life story is a plus. I’ve owned and operated my own music studio and played accordion at national-level events. For four decades I’ve run my own decorating business. And I’ve built quite a few bocce-ball courts to bring people into my favorite sport.
But it hasn’t been all fun and games. My professional résumé begins with a management career with Sears, Roebuck & Co. (I helped open the Park Mall store before transferring to California.) In 1975 I returned to the Old Pueblo as a decorating consultant with Montgomery Ward, and in 1977 I launched my own decorating company. Minchella Home Decorators is still in business, serving residential and commercial clients. I started as a REALTOR® in 1981.
That background has helped me negotiate some very large contracts. My proudest moment as a REALTOR® was when we closed on a $1.61 million contract I’d negotiated. Other big transactions were for $1.6 million, $1.425 million, and $1.42 million. But for me, a $52,000 contract is just as important. I give every transaction the same attention to detail and careful negotiation.
Watching the details sometimes goes beyond accurate paperwork. Once I had a new listing with an unsafe drop-off in the garage. A railing was needed, so I had one installed. The clients—who lived in Canada—were very appreciative, and the house sold for a good price.

He really made sure to help me with everything I did not know how to do. He made me feel like he would not be happy until I was happy. He worked very hard to get me the house that I wanted.
Everything with our agent was great until the very end when misinformation and confusion about actual closing date and time, key drop off, walk thru timing, and cleaning for the walk thru were unnecessary. We got everything ready for walk thru evening before the next day closing date. And walk thru went great. But all in all, our agent was responsive and friendly. I would recommend him to anyone doing realty business in Tucson.
